Tomorrow, The 2020 Ryder Cup was set to begin at Whistling Straits. The two sides will NOW meet at the same location next September. Can't wait!
I have been fortunate to attend three Ryder Cups. In 1999, USA trailed Europe 10-6 going into Sunday's singles matches. On Saturday evening, Caption Ben Crenshaw uttered the words "I have a feeling about this" … of course the rest is history as the United States rallied to defeat Europe 14.5-13.5. However, in 2012 the tables turned at Medinah. This time U.S. held a commanding 10-6 lead going into Sunday. Behind their emotional Captain Jose Maria Olazabal and the memory of Seve Ballesteros Europe defeated the Americans 14.5 to 13.5.
In 2016, revenge was sweet at my third Ryder Cup at Hazeltine as the U.S. defeated Europe 17 to 11. Sunday singles matches was highlighted by Patrick Reed's memorable victory over Rory McIIroy and an equally exciting match between Sergio Garcia and Phil Mickelson which ended all square. One of Davis Loves' captain's picks, Ryan Moore secured the decisive point. For the pure adrenaline rush and excitement there is nothing quite like The Ryder Cup!
Here I am celebrating the U.S victory at Hazeltine ...
